1. Overview
This Client Agreement (“Agreement”) outlines the terms and conditions between Lexi Reeds Editing (“Editor,” “we,” “our”) and the client (“Client,” “you”) for the provision of book editing services. By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by this Agreement.

2. Services Provided
We offer professional editing services, which may include (but are not limited to):

  • Developmental editing

  • Line editing

  • Copyediting

  • Proofreading

The specific scope of work will be agreed upon in writing prior to the commencement of services.

3. Client Responsibilities
You agree to:

  • Provide complete and accurate manuscript files

  • Ensure your work is your own or that you have permission to use the material

  • Clearly communicate your expectations and requirements

  • Review and approve work in a timely manner​

4. Turnaround Time
Estimated delivery timelines will be provided before work begins. While we strive to meet all deadlines, timelines may vary depending on manuscript length, complexity, and workload. Any delays will be communicated promptly.

5. Fees and Payment Terms

  • Fees will be agreed upon prior to the start of the project.

  • Payment may be required upfront, in instalments, or upon completion, depending on the project scope.

  • Payments are processed securely through third-party providers including Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay, and Klarna.

  • Work may not commence until an agreed deposit or full payment is received.

6. Revisions
Unless otherwise agreed, one round of reasonable revisions is included. Additional revisions may incur extra charges.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

  • If the Client cancels after work has commenced, the Client agrees to pay for work completed up to the cancellation date.

  • Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed.

  • Refunds are not provided for completed services.

8. Confidentiality
All materials provided by the Client will be kept strictly confidential. We will not share, reproduce, or distribute your manuscript without your explicit permission, unless required by law.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The Client retains full copyright and ownership of their manuscript at all times.

  • Editing suggestions and feedback provided by the Editor do not transfer ownership rights.

  • The Editor may request permission to use excerpts for portfolio purposes; this will only occur with written consent.

10. Limitation of Liability
While we strive for accuracy and quality, we do not guarantee that the manuscript will be error-free or accepted for publication. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

  • Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the services

11. Communication
Communication will be conducted via email or other agreed channels. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

​

12. Termination
Either party may terminate this Agreement with written notice. Any outstanding fees for work completed must be paid.

​

13. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

14. Acceptance of Terms
By engaging our services, making a payment, or providing a manuscript for editing, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
